MESSAGE from DaBalloon&MagicGuy

Last month, we were able to perform at:

1) Project Graduation at Hawaiian Waters for Pearl City and Kaimuki High School. They enjoyed the balloon twisting and the magic. There were several other vendors providing a night to remember. Thanks to everyone who made it such a success. Also, good luck and prosperity for all the 2008 graduates.

2) Aloha Stadium Swap Meet: We haven’t been there since January. We went to the swap meet twice this month and we filmed some video performances. Check one out below. We had Double D come out to perform some card sleights. We even had some magicians stop by, but I won’t mention any names. Our next visit will be in August. We’ve also set the calendar for the remaining visits for the 2008 calendar. Check out our website. Remember, free balloon twisting and street magic performances, as well as magic for sale. We even managed to book a few parties. So…tell your friends to check us out.

3) I also volunteered to assist a few of my co-workers at the Kamehameha Parade. They looked wonderful on their horses. As beautiful as they looked, I had the crappiest job…yes, I was the pooper scooper. We walked from Central Intermediate to Kapiolani Park…5-6 MILES! It was only a matter of time that I got comfortable and the clown in me came out. I dropped my dustpan and started to spin the rake like a band leader. I then marched and posed for pics. Each time I did it we got the loudest cheers…hahaha. It was funny. Business was picking up….crap! As for the girls, they were on the horses from 7:00 til the parade was over…about 5-6 hours. It was a challenging day for all, but it was all worth it. Thanks Gloria for the opportunity. I look forward to next year.

Here’s some pics of the Kamehameha parade: A) The prettiest pooper scooper collector (Far left); B) The girls…Jerzelle, Sheila, and Gloria on their horses representing the island of Lanai…

I experienced my busiest weekend of my entire balloon and magic business career. There were a total of 6 events in a weekend (Friday- 1; Saturday 3; Overnight 1; Sunday 1). I did a total of 5 magic shows, twisted over 200+ balloons, and did a project graduation overnighter twisting balloons and performing close-up magic. I got home at 11:00p on Friday night, left my house at 8:00a on Saturday, and got home at 7:00a Sunday to go to bed only to get up for a gig on Sunday night. Thanks Noreen for being the number one face painter and for keeping me sane on Saturday and Sunday night. Check the the Balloon Twisters Hawaii MySpace profile blog: Balloon Twisters Hawaii MySpace blog…busiest day of career  . Will I ever do this again…as the tootsie roll commercial says, “The world will never know”…hahaha.

As I post this, I am preparing for a family trip to Disneyland and Knotsberry Farm. I will definitely post pictures on next months blog. I also look forward to seeing family on in California.

Did you check out the website yet? It has a new retro look. Thanks Kelsie for picking the colors. Here’s the link: Balloon Twisters Hawaii Official Website . I also added a secret link to a secret access page. Let’s see who finds it.

Thanks to Hawaiian Adventures Water park for the invite for the VIP grand opening of the Tornado. It is a waterride on an inner tube that holds 2-4 people. It has a 50 foot drop into a 130 foot funnel…what a rush. If you haven’t seen it or ride it, make arrangements to go soon. Also, they opened the Dive-N-Movies. Watch movies projected on a huge floating screen on a an inner tube in the Hurricane Bay. Check out their website for the Friday Pau Hana specials…rides open at night and a movie. http://www.hawaiianwaters.com/promotions/index.cfm

Thanks again everyone for your continued support and referrals…Don’t forget to share with all your friends, co-workers, and family…the friendliest balloonists, magicians, and face painters in the 808 state.

Until next month…keep the magic alive,

Richard aka “Da Balloon & Magic Guy”

Here’s a clip of a magician’s classic…Scotch and Soda. It’s a wonderful trick that I learned from the wonderful Monty who used to sell magic at the Aloha Tower Marketplace. He is still performing magic in the mainland.

Check out my youtube page for more magic videos of DaBalloon&MagicGuy, as well as other magicians from around the world. http://www.youtube.com/rchrdbautista
